tight door handle...

hey guys :) so, my passanger side door handle (inside and out) is really hard to open compared to the drivers side. :wtf . it feels like i am going to break it off every time i pull. does anyone know what is wrong? :stick . i pull it and almost maxes out the handle then, pop, it opens. anyway, thats about the best description i can give :P. thanks again bye :)

Hah, mine does that, too. If it's not supposed to be that way, I still refuse to fix it. It's worth the look on a new passenger's face and the, "Umm, can you unlock this?"

Yeah, I'm no help, sorry. :o:

haha i agree compleatly with linds, mine is the same way..... just be like "come on man, dont be a pussy and pull!" lol gets em every time :)

Spray\smear white lithium grease (not WD40, thats not a grease, it's a degreaser) onto the latch of the door.
Tadaaaa. Like butta.

If you dont do this, you can break the cable or latch mechanism, which will not be fun to fix since, well, you can't open the door to get to it.

My back right door is like that... only not that bad... just a bit sticky.

BaLAnCe17 01-05-2006 11:19 PM

its not sticky, its like the tension between something is off. and its not the door handle itself. it seems like its in the door because both inside and out are hard to open :-\

mine is the same way. like bitcore said, lube that puppy up! Helps a lot :)

I have a different problem. Sometimes when I pull up on the handle, it opens the door normally, but the handle stays in the up position. Somehow the handle rubs against the bottom trim, and I have to jam a screwdriver in there to reset the gap between the parts. Go figure.

+1. My passenger door pulled this stunt a week ago. Lubed it up and all is well.

also while doing the latches, you might want to wipe down all your rubber weatherstripping around doors, hood & trunk lid with talcom powder this helps preserve the seal itself from sticking in hot/cold situations and helps it maintain original form.

lol, both ym handles are hard, but I don't find it an issue, always get a good laught out of it, plus a good excuse to get you closer to the chick riding next to you:

"Rooz what's wrog with my door handle?" "Nothing just needs a man's touch :D"

michaelvettel 09-28-2010 10:07 AM

replace the whole thing, so you don't have to yank the whole thing. You might even need to a craw bar to open the car:runaway

Door handle levers are made of cheap pot metal. They crack and bend then eventually break. But the common symptom is a hard to open door until it breaks. Lube anything you can will extend the life.

sorry cant load picture of broken door handle.
