Plenty of other way more beneficial mods for less money.

If I were in your position, I would shark the car, and then move on to suspension. That will give you a nice hp boost (esp. since you have the intake) and the suspension will make your car much more fun to drive.

I didn't notice a difference with my stock elbow and Dinan BBTB. I did notice a BIG jump when I bought a 3.5" silicone elbow. I think this mod really only works well when you have a lot of mods (3.5" tuned HFM, 3.5" intake, 3.5" elbow, etc)

James, how did you get teh 3.5 HFM to work on the M52 motor? I had been told numerous times it was an M3 mod only. That our ecu could not handle it.

People are full of shit. With the right tuned chip it'll work fine and I noticed a GOOD improvment with the 3.5HFM and AA Chip

So if i buy a 3.5 HFM and a 3.5 CAI from cosmos what chip would you recommend? AA? Would I have to go custom? And would i notice enough of a difference with the HFM, CAI, and M50 to not need the TB or elbow?

You gotta remember you're OBD2, I'm OBD1 so a "chip" for your car isn't possible. Honestly, I don't know what you can do to get a "tuned" HFM working on OBD2. I'd contact Karl at AA and see if they have something for it.

The thing is about the BBTB and Elbow, is, the more air that is coming in, the better these mods seem to work. only going to do a M50 manifold and cosmos CAI, then I probably would not recommend a BBTB or elbow. Mpactmotorsport's specifically said you will hardly notice any difference with this elbow on a lightly modded car. So with that in mind, the real question is how much do you want to spend for a FEW extra ponies?

I've seen MUCH better and cheaper BBTB's (I can't remember where, but there was a thread on BF.c which showed them to actually help out 5-7whp) other then Dinan. With a Cosmos intake, exhaust, M50 manifold, S52 cams and software, you should make in the range of 210-225whp. I'm shooting for 230whp and I think I might be REAL close now with my current setup.

BBTB would not show any improvement. The current throttle body is already bigger than is needed. For it to work better you would need to increase your displacement, get a larger intake manifold, different cams, larger valves, etc..

I sat with an engineer and he showed me the flow characteristics of the I6 motors. He also showed me the flow rates of the stock TB and the volume of a single cylinder. There is a possibility of a reduction in tourque.

Check out www.e36coupe.com about bbtb

It helps you get the torque back after the M50 conversion and the flatspots

Now that is a good point. I would assume that the problem is that what is happening is that the air chamber at the end of the runners can fill with more air, causing the car to run a little smoother.

Something to talk to him about.. HMMMMM..
