325I Died
My 1994 325I quit while driving through an intersection a couple of days ago. After it sat for 3 or 4 hours it started and ran for 30 seconds or so then died and wouldn't start back. Towed home. Still hasn't started after a couple of days. Haven't had time to actually check it out other than the codes. Got the 1444. No help there. Realize it could be multiple things, but I would greatly appreciate any input of possible causes. Turns over fine, has new battery. Was in low 30's when this happened. Was going to start with plugs then move to fuel. Thanks for any input.
wow, that sucks. I would start with fuel. Check your gas cap. I had mine stalling and running like crap and my gas cap was improperly seated. That fixed everything. beyond that I would change my fuel filter. Both are easy and relatively cheap. Plugs are possible but not likely if it runs for 30 seconds or so.
Umnitza now provides a mechanic to install all parts ordered right in the box! It's their new "Total customer service program" that will eliminate all the haters and keep incompetents from breaking **** and blaming the vendor! When you are all set simply call INS and they will pick him up free of charge.

on the contrary it depends on if you have OBD I or OBD II. If you have OBD II and it is P1444 it means "EGR Valve Position Sensor range/performance" but since he has a 1994 he has OBD I which as you said means there are no faults. not trying to be anal, just in case someone with OBD II gets that code and thinks they dont have any faults.
I agree with what most have said here. Work with ignition and fuel first.

I'm betting on the fuel filter or the fuel pump, although that should have thrown a code.
