Car is down

:cry Go to start my car this morning, won't start, so am pissed :ranting

Figured bad battery (had left my radar on) so I try to find jumper cables, and am like, well, let's give it a last try before I try hooking them up, it starts, so am all happy :clap

Now I was noticing it was running rough, but I figured must be because of the fact that it was very cold, so I let it warm up for a bit.

Then when I go to leave, I try backing up, and my car had a huge delay from me pressing the gas, and it moving, and just about shut down on me. And there was huge cloud of white smoke and a smell of gas all around it. So I turn it off and go look under the hood, it looked as if there was oil in the coolant :bawling

By my guess, I am pretty sure it it's either a bad head gasket, or my :censored F-ing head is cracked or something :bluecry1

So I don't know what to do...... Right now am kind of stuck, my dad's mech. is being an A-hole and telling me he can't take care of me now because he's busy. And of course, my dad won't help me since him and I just have an amazing father and son relationship, lol.

SO for now, am kind of F-ed up. Either way it's going to cost me some money. Worst case scenario, if my engine is shot, this will be my excuse for going balls to the wall, getting a loan and slapping a euro 3.2 on the car, but for now, I need to get it diagnosed by a pro. And being that Holydays are just coming, not sure when that will happen.... :tdown

That sucks, bro... sorry to hear troubs. I'ld bet it's head gasket but hard to say without getting into it.

bmw4life 12-19-2005 07:01 PM

That sucks, hope its something little or you get a 3.2 out of this.

xsperf 12-19-2005 07:33 PM

ok, so when you had a dead battery, your car didnt crank at all? because, lets all be on the hopeful side, lets say that the whitesmoke was unburnt gas, but since you had a dead battery.. well it probably was coolant

now, about the delay in pushing the gas, lets hope this is just when you started your car b/4 it warms up, because who knows, the tranny fluid can take some time to get to the torque converter

and the coolant in the oil, does that mean your coolant is brown? that sucks dude, how did you all of a sudden crack your head, or any of the sleeves/pipes or whatever you call them that go through the engine crack? in 1 day? not likely

///M Power 12-19-2005 07:52 PM

yeah .........your head isnt cracked and your HG is fine.

Tons of luck with the fix! :spin

i can almost garantee that its a vaccuum line. same exact thing happened to me about a week ago. vaccuum hose from intake manifold to the fuel pressure regulator was leaking or broken. check your codes to see what you're throwing. i know (at least on the e34) you can check it by turning the car to on but not start it, then press the gas pedal 5 times within 5 seconds and it should then flash the codes in sequence. that's how i check mine.

here's a site explaining how

Matter of fact after I warmed it up, when I got in the car to back it up, a CEL was blinking (yes, not staying on)

But vaccuum hose from intake manifold to the fuel pressure regulator leaking makes some sense since it smelled like gas all around the car, but then, how does that explain the oil in my coolant?

devinwwu 12-19-2005 08:36 PM

might not be oil... coolant can get dirty, i know my old stuff looked dark when i switched it out, just a factor of how often it is changed

Rooz 12-19-2005 08:39 PM

I know, but there is oil in it.....

Kind of like having vinegar and oil, you can see the spots of oil, same thing in my coolant...

Longhairedhippy 12-19-2005 09:39 PM

hope that if you can't repair it, ///Mpower it.

xsperf 12-19-2005 09:43 PM

check your oil and see if its is #1 dirty, and #2 low

komodo 12-19-2005 11:23 PM

I wish I had some advice to help you out, but I can't, haha. Good luck with that. Either way seems to be a positive resolution. :D

Rooz 12-19-2005 11:26 PM

I dunno man, unfortunatly, I have to relly on my family for this one I only have like $700 in my account, and humm well, my dad and I never really got along too well :(

xxxbimmer 12-20-2005 04:05 AM

JW do u have any engine mods?

ur car would smell like gas after a start like that.....lil smoke is fine too

oil in coolant is really bad....how much oil are we talking here? and when was the last time you checked your coolant before this?
