Freezing In Pa, Help!!
My climate control unit stopped working completely. I tried the climate control fix that is posted on BMW DIY. That didn't work so i purchased a refurbished unit from a seller with perfect feedback on ebay. It doesn't work either.
When the control was on the fritz, even when the unit wasn't working, the buttons lit up when the lights were on. Now its completely dead, no power to it whatsoever.
I have checked all of the fuses of course, all fine. Is there a relay that would keep it from working? Is there a way to test if there is power coming to the unit? I can't afford $80 an hour for electrical troubleshooting, so I have to freeze for now. Damn its cold out!
I greatly appreciate any and all help!!

i feel your pain man. my heater didnt work for most of the winter last year, all i had was heated seats.
i am not much of an electrician, but check all connections first, make sure absolutely no plugs or wires are loose, then get a voltometer and ask around as to what connections to check for power to make sure you didn't buy a bum unit.
and are you sure you did the climate control unit DIY correctly? cause i know i did it and it worked for a few weeks then stopped, and I hadn't soldered correctly. This is just a very common problem and easy fix and would not want you to spend more money on something small.

i appreciate your advice, damn Haynes manual doesnt give you the electric chart
for the heating system. its very frustrating, something so necessary and you have to live
without it. this car is wearing me out...haha.

thank you for the advice, hate to purchase one but dont know anyone around
here with the same car. i did notice #9 in the manual but didnt know if
it would have to do with the unit itself.
i changed the cabin filter in mine and haven't had any problems yet. Just had it changed though but usually my blower decides it wants to just shut off when it's freezing out and my the ds heated seat decided last winter to almost burn my ass and hasn't worked since. I feel your pain!!!!!
btw a heads up, BMW fuses are really weird, sometimes you cant tell if they are burnt just by looking at them, so try actually replacing them, might help
