Cosmos CAI...

This is for all those who have it... mine came in the mail today, i went to install it, and found a bunch of rust in the tubing. Anyone else had experience with this before ? What happened if yes? Please let me know. I already emailed cosmos racing asking them what's up but i don't expect a reply until tomorrow earliest. Thanks

There shouldnt be rust in the tubing. I thought it was made of plastic? I say just mail it back and have em replace it

i'm pretty sure it's metal but the outside is in perfect condition, i'll probably send it back and ask for a new one, i'm waiting for their response

that's really weird. it shouldn't oxidize like that if it was properly coated with whatever they use.

let us know about this, cause i was looking to buy one.

^^ The cosmos is the best next to Dinan as a true CAI and if u wanna get a supercharger. Otherwise IMO the Conforti one is usually better, but mostly for looks.

i don't have a pic imight take one later or tomorrow but basically, about 80% of the interior surface is covered with rust, the outside is perfectly fine.

WTF are u talkng about? Take a look at the 2 intakes, the Dinan intake goes into the fender, same with the Cosmos. A Dinan supercharger sits sorts above and off to the side of the intake, take a look. All the Cosmos intake is a cheaper non CF Dinan intake, and the Dinan intake is known as a "true CAI" becuase it goes down into the fender.

ok first off the cosmos intake is metal not plastic don't assume, and 2 yes it does have some rust in it, mine did, but mine wiped off. Let us know how the install goes if you need any help i'll try to explain it.

Why would the conforti look better also? With the Dinan and Cosmos I think it looks cleaner as it almost looks like it could have come stock minus having to relocate the horns, because all you see is a black pipe in the engine bay.

did you have any problems since the install? how long have yo had it on? i cleaned mine out with some WD 40 and wiped with rags on the inside. there's still some but it's barely coming off. i'm planning on soaking it in WD-40 tomorrow some more, then soap and water all over it, drying it then paint. did you paint yours or just clean, wash, dry? I really want to get it on but I'm scared. Also, did you relocate the horn completely or just move it out of the way? a few people have told me you just need to rotate the bracket and the intake will fit. let me know, thanks

had it on for a month or so I think. yeah I washed it, but no paint. I relocated my horns completely, mine didn't quite fit when I tried just bending the bracket near the foglight and brake duct so I broke it off completely like the instructions said.

I don't have one, but that is a LOT of rust! I wouldn't put it on my car and I wouldn't try to fix it. They should send you a rust-free one. Good luck.
