actually it is not ported. And it is 2 10" subs, back to back.

I am telling you, this thing is fine for people who dont want to spend massive amounts, clutter up the trunk or sound like a ghetto mobile...

Could always go with JL Sealthboxes?

BMW's beg to be driven, and what could be better than a great road with a great sounding stereo in your 3-Series.

The small stock speaker locations don't really lend themselves to the installation of powerful bass speakers, so our engineers have cleverly designed these tiny modules that bolt up to the rear stock speaker locations, without cutting or drilling a single hole in your car. The result is smooth and powerful JL Audio sub-bass, without sacrificing trunk space.

THE HARD DATA:

Contains two 8IB4 subwoofers in a semi-enclosed infinite baffle setup. 150 watt power handling. Can be wired for 8 ohm stereo or 4 ohm mono. Stealthbox® consists of two separate units. Attaches underneath the rear deck with absolutely no cutting or drilling required. Sacrifices no trunk space! Will not fit 3-Series Convertible or '97-'98 3-Series sedan (4 door). Will not fit '99-Up 3-Series.

But then you'd need an amp.

Yeah dude... I have an older pioneer head unit from an Alero I used to have way back. Its a Pioneer DEH-3400. I installed it myself (requires a wiring harness and since it is amplified with mofset, you have to un-amplify it with this little contraption - not sure what it is called - see crutchfield.com). This head unit had front and back preouts (RCAs) built in. I used those to hook in, rather than going to the speakers for power. I still have factory speakers, and they are just fine for me for now.

The head unit came first. It made such a huge difference with the H/K system (i have the 10 speaker version)...

see, i never thought of upgrading the HU because i dont think i was going to keep the car very long, and i thought the premium sound was great. i just want alittle more bass. do u think i should go w/ the one from bavauto and justplug that in.....if there isnt enough power, just go buy like a $150 HU...im just looking for ideas i guess

either or. depends on how much cash you have to burn and whether or not you want to keep the car. I saw go cheap if you plan on selling.

I got the sub after the headunit, so I don't know how the factory one would do for you if you got the sub.

so heres what im thinking....factory hu w/ the bavauto basslink sub. even if i bought a new hu($150) + $180 for basslink on ebay it would almost be the same price. any objections lol....if it doesnt hit hard enough what would be my options from then on out?
