New RSM's and some weight reduction..

I threw some new RSM's on my car this afternoon and fixed up all the hack job stereo wiring thats been bugging the hell out of me.. anyways, i stripped the trunk down and pulled everything out, and WHOA is all i can say

The car is def. noticably faster, and now that there is no carpeting or sound deadening it sounds amazing under WOT! the exhaust sounds vicious from the cabin.

Its really amazing what some simple mods can do to a car.. this weight reduction +no spare tire +fan delete has the car feeling alot more powerful and much faster.

My next cheapo mods are going to be OBDII tubular headers, and straight pipes replacing the cats, then eventually a stainless magnaflow muffler.

Im going to pull the rear seats and anything else i dont really need ATM out tomorrow too.. can't wait. The only minus to this is that the rear of the car is sitting much higher than previously with all the weight gone

Somewhere in he 60 to 80 LB range i think. Thats including the spare tire. Hopefully i can ditch around 30 more lb's tomorrow.

I really do need to lower this baby.. if funds allow im going to try and pick up some used koni adustables then some H&R race springs.

What possessed you to gut a nice car? I hope for your sake it's just an experiment. I could see a project car or a beater. But to rip the guts out of her??? I bet it's worked wonders for the acoustics. And the total balance of the cars' stability is out the window. Needless to say what will happen the first time you're stopped - they'll LOVE you. All you need now is a window net, roll bar/cage & a Nomex suit. I'm not "dissing you, but bro - find a clunker to take out your inspirations on

hahaha my dad thinks that im nuts, the look on his face when i pulled out the rear seats this afternoon was priceless

And clapton... im sure by your standards this is a beater.. the front seats are trashed, the paint needs some tlc, and its a 93 e36.. that doesnt mean i dont keep it clean and maintain it well though.. its just not the kind of car to worry about ripping the interior apart on.

I needed to pull apart the trunk to get to the rsm's anyway too.

And the weight removed isnt enough to throw off the balance of the car at all.

new headers are not going to give you any worth while power gains unless you are super charged. the factory headers flow very well. headers would be a waste of money.

I don't consider anyones' car in this forum a beater. (including yours) You need to find some big old Buick to trash and play Dr Frankenstein with. Didn't your parents ever tell you "there are starving children around the world that would kill for your rondel" - Now go to your room young man....

Im not really sure what starving children have to do with taking some carpeting out of my car.. but ok?

Its not like im doing anything that cant be reversed. And its not like im the only person whos done this, i know for a fact les over on bimmerwerkz does, and another dude with a 318 on bimmerwerkz has gutted every peice of sound deadening out of his car, and also done some other crazy things to save weight.
