LED taillights
I am considering purchasing some LED taillights. Does anyone on this forum have them? Are they any good? Any problems with OBC? Installation? Any help will be appreciated.
I don't personally have any experience with them, but I know the leds should never burn out, and I like the look of them. :thumbup
Well i was checking out AutoZone one day, and they have LED taillight bulbs. Not the entire houseing, they just replace the bulb. There much brighter and last longer, only problem is finding a bulb with the correct amperage or they wont work.
I'm also worried about the OBC. LED's use a lot less amperage. The computer might think it was blown out and send me a warning.
Well with the LED bulbs i was looking at, the guy said because the amperage is diff it may cause damage to the wiring or the control system itself. But if u can find one with same amperage youll be fine.
I personally don't like them, I think this was brought up before and someone posted some pics, might want to search for it.
I'll do a search. I would like to see them on a car before I make a decision. They look neat in the pictures, but really need to see them on a car.
btw, the OBC will only give out a code if the voltage itself(i think) is different, and unless you cheap out, if you get good ones, the OBC should be fine. i know someone who cheaped out on LED corner lights and now they blink fast like a ricer.. haha

There is a post on this and I was the one that posted pictures on this and I was also the one that said "me no likie"
here check it out... Ugly lights.... I mean LED tails ligths.... |
The LED lights on an E46 M3 look good. Something like that would be kool on an E36. Is that more what u want or just the bulb?

Thanks for the comments and the pictures. I actually do like the them when they are lit up. I am not so sure about the appearance when they are not on. I may go back to the blacked out or smoked ones in appearance. I have some smoked corners coming soon, we'll see how it goes. thanks again.

LEDs make sense. Use less power and last way longer :)
smoked corners are the way to go, yeah after seeing LED tail lights on E36's I would get the red/clear tail lights, or smoked ones.
