help me decided - United Bimmer Community

Ok, here's the situation... I have a 98 328i, all stock and ~$150 to spend. i have a few options, but there's one necessary thing... i need to change my thermostat. so, here are the options, please post comments and vote:

1. Fan delete kit from understeer + coolant flush + aluminum housing(maybe)
2. Cosmos CAI + stock thermostat + coolant flush
3. "other mod" + stock thermostat + coolant flush

Assuming you are spending ~ 40 dollars for a new thermostat I would go for a coolant flush and save the rest of the money for a rainy day.

I'm doing a coolant flush with every option, sorry just edited it, but either way, i dont' understand your post. do you mean get the stock thermostat and do a coolant flush and save the rest of the money or just do the coolant flush ? thanks

Sorry, didn't know if you were flushing or not. Well on top of the stat and flush I imagine you'll have 90-100 dollars left. I would suggest maybe a License plate delete or Europlate and some Redline water wetter.

I can't recommend doing Cosmos CAI because I myself haven't done it and haven't heard anything about Cosmos.

Last time you changed your MTF?

Have you thought about blacking out your grill surrounds? That would be pretty cheap. I don't know anything about that intake but I would get it or save up some money.

option #2. and as someone already said, put in some water wetter when put in the new stat and flush.

i ordered a cosoms and the understeer fan delete kit guys. i was originally going do RSMs, install some stock "sport" suspension springs and then do lifetime alignment for about $150, but decided against it cuz my alignment is fine and i can hold off on the springs and RSMs for later, they're both in good shape. thanks for the input guys
btw.. if anyone has done the fan delete from understeer, pm me or let me know on here so maybe you can help me out if i have some questions. thanks

^^ good choice man. Personally im a fan of the Conforti intake mostly for looks though. A few people have done the delete and havent had any problems with it so you should be fine. Plus u can put it back on in like just over an hour or so if u have to.
