intake question...

which intake should i buy for my stock 328i ? i have $150 to spend and will be doing this with the fan delet mod.( i knwo it has nothing to do with it ) also, is there an upside/downside to getting an intake for the winter ? i'm pretty sure it doesn't matter but never had an intake so just curious. also, what hp increase would i expect with intake and fan delete ? thanks

p.s.- would it be smarter to get the underdrive pulley kit from UUC or understeer instead of an intake ? please give me some suggestions guys. i'm getting the fan delete kit for sure, then either intake or pulleys.

Ok, first thing you need to do is go to this link...

http://www.unitedbimmer.com/forums/thread59.html

as far as gains go, with an intake you won't get many, at all. But you will get a SWEET sound from your engine. Any power increase will be more noticeable in the upper RPM range, and may lower your torque slightly.

The underdrive pullies however provide a better increase in power as well as torque. But you won't get the sweet sound.

If you are a BMWCCA member or a member of bimmerforums.com you get a discount of around $7 I think it was for the cosmos racing air intake. Sounds great IMO.

I'd recommend an intake before underdrive pulleys personally. Usually an intake and chip are the first mods done.

if you only have $150 i would get the cosmos CAI. one thing to consider is if you want to ever get euro headlights many cai's will not fit.

i'm planning on getting some depos or zkw from umnitza after the winter but i'm not worried since 99% of bmw owners on all the forums have a cai and zkw/depo/whatever headlights

I did a lot of shopping when I bought my intake and I couldn't find one I liked for $150. I think you're better off buying the pulleys and then saving a little more to get a really nice intake like a Conforti, Dinan, or GruppeM.

i believe the cosmos intake is the same as the dinan. why pay for over priced dinan stuff when you can get a cosmos intake for a fraction of the price?

The cosmos is exactly the same as the dinan one. And infact it is smoother inside the tubing, because its not bare CF.

do you know for a fact that they haven't smoothed the inside as well? and the CF might make better power gains because CF deflects heat better than bare metal, therefore that colder air would give you a little more power.
