lower control arms
Hiya All,
I was reading the FAQ section on this page and Dudesky said that you could use e30 lower control arms on the e36 models, can anyone reinforce this for me I am ordering a set for a e30 from ebay and would like to make sure this is the right thing to do.
Dudesky said the e30 's were stronger than the e36. These come with the Meyle ball joints and the bushings for $136.00 for the pair.

That info was taken straight out of the April 2005 issue of Bimmer Magazine, and I've also read on other websites of people doing it. The only difference that I'm aware of is that the outer ball joints are not replaceable on the E30 control arms. I believe this is why they're better than the E36 parts. The reason for using the E30 part is solely becuase the outer ball joint does not fail as much. Hope this helps
e30 m3 control arms are the same as e36 m3 control arms except they are made of aluminum. this makes them attractive because they are lighter. the only problem is that they will bend more easily as aluminum is not as stong as steel. unless you are a hardcore track junkie i dont see why anybody would get e30 m3 control arms. i researched this a lot before getting my e36 m3 control arms.

they are each maybe 1/2 pound heavier than the stock E36 ones. They each way some 7 pounds or so (just picking the thing up so it could be 4, it could be 15 lol but they are not that much heavier), so I wouldn't worry about it and take advantage of the superior ball joints.
