engine code location?
I,m new to BMW's. Where do I find the engine code to know whether I have an E50, E52 etc? Can,t seem to find it anywhere and my door jamb plate was replaced with a goverment replacement due to it being stolen when new from the lot then recovered with no damage. Thanks |

Theirs no real plate, except on the engine block itself. Their are however several differences between the two engines. If you have a 1998 E36 i can tell you right now that you have an M52 engine. The M50 was made from 1991-1995. In 1996 they switched to the M52 engine.
