Tried to check my diag codes - weird result
I have another question. I read the sticky about checking for any stored codes via the On key + 5 accel presses. I followed the procedure and seems to get a strange result. The Check Engine Light (CEL) flashed to start. Then it gave a long flash a pause and then a quick flash. It seems to just repeat this pattern over and over. long flash - long pause, quick flash, long pause - repeat. Am I just reading it wrong? Thanks Brian |

Thats the procedure for OBDI cars. The CEL should flash, followed by a pause, then the flashes for the code (if any). Theirs a couple youtube videos on it, so you can see what it looks like.

Ok, thank you. The procedure did seem to activate a diagnostic mode (lots of clicking and such) plus the blinking CEL. But I'm going to go with no codes = good. I don't have any reason to suspect a code, just checking. By your response I take it mine may not be OBDI? Thanks Brian |

No yours is OBDI. I was saying that you were correct in that the procedure you used was correct. Pre 1995 is OBDI. 1996 and newer is OBDII

Thanks. In other news, some emery cloth, a few new bulbs, and dielectric grease seems to have cleared up my rear light gremlins.  |
