Swaybar incident..

Yea.. my swaybar completely ripped out of the passenger side control arm today.. haha.

I think it was because of a pothole earlier in the day.. anyways im ordering new sway links for the front and rear as we speak.. but my car will be down for at least 2 days. :angry

My car was handling soo weird with it ripped out on one side, it would turn normally to the left, but it was really vague and unpredictable when turning to the right side.. a little scary.. lol.

that sucks, dude.

Dudesky 10-23-2005 08:03 PM

You should get the sway bar bushings while you're at it. Or did you?

Rooz 10-23-2005 08:10 PM

^^^Thinking about upgrading . . who makes that, and how much?

(Edit): Never mind . . I see it.

Well the new sway links are on, i bought new brackets for everything and eventually im going to get new bushings, autohausaz didnt have any.

It feels a little tighter, other than that its the same as before.

Im also throwing new tie rods and RSM's on it this weekend. :redspotda

94bmw325i 10-27-2005 08:49 PM

How hard is stuff like that to install? I think I need new RSM's.

catalyst 10-27-2005 09:29 PM

Its mad easy man.

Seriously all you need is:

a jack
jackstands
Metric open ended wrenches
metric sockets

Of course theres other random ass tools that always end up helping out somehow..

Im putting tierods on my car for 30 bucks in parts.. a shop would charge between 200 and 300, and it only takes 20 minutes. These seriously are not complicated cars at all, they are really user friendly too when it comes to doing your own work, pretty decent amount of room, and most stuff is easily accessible.

For the RSM's i dunno ive never done any before haha.. shouldnt be to hard. Im just figuring shit out as i go :)

I'll have to try some of this stuff, seeing my car is a 94 with just over 127k miles. Just some preventary maintenance, im not changing my radiator though, seems perfectly fine, but some smaller items, well price-wise.

Don't I know it . . I must be the king of random tools, including newly invented ones that don't work out :(

The PITA is removing the crap in the way just to get to them . . speaker boxes and carpet linings. You'll spend half your time just doing that. Otherwise it's straightforward, torque the nuts correctly so they don't come loose on you later ;)

Yea it was pretty annoying taking the speakers and carpet apart, i already have the trunk all pulled apart from when i ws inspecting them on tuesday when i ordered the parts.

I think its time to buy a torque wrench, ive been meaning to pick one up..
