How come some 325i(not is's) have painted side skirts?

mine had painted side skirts, and i think ti had some sort of special differential, because it was much faster than all the other 92's ive expierienced

I think its a factory option. My 98 328i had painted skirts, but i think thats a 328 thing.

I think with early e36's you had to have the sport package to get painted skirts?

All BMWs have painted rockerpanels.. Plus another layer of gray/black paint over top of that layer. The previous owner probably just got rid of that top layer of gray/black. That is what I did. Now the 96+ guys have side skirts.. Which are plastic and cover the rocker panels. But looking at your picture you are not referring to that... Oh and most 92s are fast.. Just most people think they are slow..

Once you get them going, they're fast, but not off the line I've heard a lot of people say that first gear on them is almost useless, and I have to agree.

absolutely not, the car, once we got it, had a chipped ECU, it was obvious, and had a rev limiter at 7K, and it was very nice, very responsive, and had a very nice torque range throughout, however, new engine came, non chipped ecu(new engine was vanos) and then later it was chipped with a Dinan chip, and the power only came after 3500-4000RPM, not because of the vanos only, but also because of the chip

and i was referring to 325s, i think all 328s have them right? its just that some 325s have them and some done, look on ebay

Pre '96 had black/grey (unless sport option or dealer "redo") BMW had tons of requests via dealers & customers & made the change mid '96

Oh yea, absolutely . . I wasn't referring to the gear itself, but the electronics. Pretty sure it's the same Getrag in later years.
