Black Box mystery 2
I have a 95 318 ti 1.8 manual...and I would like to know what the black box in the attachment controls? Does it control the knock pulse sensors? If not are the Knock pulse control sensors located on the outside of the engine or on the inside?
im not 100% on this but from what i can tell it looks like something to do with ur igniton. See the 4 little grey wires coming out the bottom? those look like spark plug wires so that box is most likley contorls which plug sparks when.

Coil packs.. Same as the 325 just wired differently.. Knock sensors with BMW are generally on the engine itself.

yep, thats your coil pack.
on the 4 cyl's the coil packs are all in one unit, for the 6 cyl M50 and M52, they are directly above the spark plugs, one per cyl. I like it this way because if one goes bad, you don't have to replace all of them if your really broke :P
