window and other help please
I was at work when my wife informed me that the sunroof vibrated up top when she was rolling it back (which only rolls back half way for some reason) and then all the windows stopped working. The lights for the visor mirrors also stopped working as well. Any idea if all this is related to just the fuses? A little off topic, but my driver side window don't roll down. The motors make noise and it acts like it would go down but seems as if it might be off track or needs a new regulator....If it needs a new regulator where would be the best place to buy one because an auto shop around my town said its an 800 dollar part and would cost 1,000 to fix..... -.- Also I have two sets of wires hanging under my car any idea what those would be because my heat/ A/C unit works on a very rare occasion and likes to shut itself off so you can't adjust the heat or air once it shuts off....
Odds are the sun roof may have come off its track. Its easy to see if it has, but rquires removal of the motor to reset.
Check ALL of your fuses. One may be bad and be tied into something thats not listed. Better to check em all and make sure. If the windows dont roll down all the way it could be a few things, but the best way to check is to remove the door panel. That way you can see if its off the track or anything is broken. It is kinda common to have a few issues with the windows. A window regulator can be had for a LOT cheaper then $800. Places like Pelican Parts, GetBMWParts.com, and Bimmerspecialist.com should sell them.

Thanks for the advice it was a fuse....Now i just have to worry about the two sets of wires hanging underneath, my heat/ac unit not working, and do you know where to buy a cheap window regulator online? One of them was busted the other one was off track so i need a new one for a 1996 328i?
Ive never had to shop for a window regulator so im not sure what the going rate on them is, however when shopping for parts i usually call the dealer and get a qoute as a baseline cost, then shop around.
Im sure one of the following retailers will carry one:
- Pelican Parts
- Bimmerspecalist
- GetBMWParts.com
- The BMW Parts store
