Glove compartment replacement

Alas it seems last time my indy fixed it he used an old used replacement and now the push button to open it has broken out, so I need to save the button and manually push it in to open, ugh!

So what is the best solution... do I just try to get another used part and replace the whole compartment door, and then is it pretty easy to replace without special tools? Maybe I can just replace the "catch"?

Or any other suggestions? And if I do need to get parts, please let me know what would be the best place... Pelican has the catch and button, if thats what I can replace only, but it seems they do not sell the whole door/cover.

Thanks!

Welcome to United Bimmer! If the button/catch is the problem I would start with that. You could replace te glovebox door, but it's common for them to sag over time. Theirs a few good DIYs in how to fix it though. Is their a junkyard near you? Sometimes E36's pop up and you can get parts for quite cheap. For the latch I would go with Pelican parts. Awesome company.

Ya Pelican is cool... I need to find this junkyard that people tell me is around here, but no one has the address or #, ugh... I hate driving around streets with bad directions, and these places are never listed.

I know the feeling. Thiers supposedly 3 junk/scrapyards in my city and I only know where one is.
