E36General discussion and technical help for (E36) 1992-1999 3 series cars. 318, 323, 325, 328.
Wow, that was quick, I paid Umnitza the 2nd of October at like 10pm, and The HID's came in today probably ~around 2 (that's when our mail gets here)
Kudos on a very fast shipment!
Install was very easy, probably didn't take me anymore than 45mins.. IF even...
The light output is AMAZINGLY better than even ellipsoids...
I went with 6k and they look pure white//blue when you look at them, the light up the streets with a light blue tone, literally turns night into day DEFINITELY worth the 275$ if you ask me
Umnitza
But here are the pics:
"By the way, am typing a DIY with pics right after this, so... Komodo, lol, look for it "
BEFORE:
Now, please notice that the bulbs I had on before the H1'z were 100w Xenon LOOK ALIKE bulbs, so, whiter and brighter than what most everyone else uses...
HALF WAY:
At this point only driver side is changed....
AFTER:
Keep in mind that the first picture were taken when sun was going down, and the last pictures were taken at like 8pm when it was dark out...
And also, in reality, you can see the DDE's much easier, it's just that my camera doesn't pic up details that easily when it gets somewhat dark out...
And finally, my headlights haven't been aimed so light output would be more "balanced" once that gets done, I am planning on taking it to my dad's shop tomorrow and doing it there...
Umnitza now provides a mechanic to install all parts ordered right in the box! It's their new "Total customer service program" that will eliminate all the haters and keep incompetents from breaking **** and blaming the vendor! When you are all set simply call INS and they will pick him up free of charge.

an ellipsoid is a type of headlight. If you look at most new cars it actually looks like the low-beam is a marble instead of a reflector like the oem e36 lights. The ellipsoid provides much better light distribution.
and I THINK HID stands for "High Intensity Displacement". And yes, it is very similar to xenon. I don't know if it is the exact same.
