E36General discussion and technical help for (E36) 1992-1999 3 series cars. 318, 323, 325, 328.
yea i would take the new M5 over any 1000hp m3..M5 makes more sence..plus it was specifically engineered for the 500hp..unlike that M3.

I wouldn't feel safe in that M3. castrophic engine failure could happen at any second, and with my luck it would happen right when i needed the engine to save my life.

Wow, nobody's said it yet.... TURBO LAG!!!
heh, I wouldn't care... big, highly balenced engine would turn pull like crazy without all that boost anyways.
Wouldn't this be faster in terms of weight than an M5? I mean, the M5 is getting all it's horses from N/A with that big block, right?
Weight reduction is the easiest and most effective method for going faster, with a huge ass engine and some fat, yet able to turn tires, it'd be an amazing track car. Thats why turbos and supers were invented. Extra power without the weight of a much larger engine & better gas mileage when you arn't using all the power.
2,000 usd isn't that bad for a full rebuild every 40k, If I had 1,000 horses, I'd have no problem rebuilding that often. I'd track this mothafucka and keep traction control on so I can just stomp it on the stright aways.
Throw a roll cage inside there, get some hefty ass crossbraces and the E36 frame isn't gonna move at all. I'd re-enforce the HELL out of the subframe though...
Why the shit am I still talking? I have a hst101 (western civ) test in an hour.

well it does 0-60 in the same time as a mcLaren f1 does, 3.2 secs
on a more practical note, which komodo you might actually consider this, they sell a supercharger kit thats suppoesd to give you 550HP for 4800USD, that seems really practical to me
