1995 316i wont start
I have 95 316i that quit running(260,000km), it stalled on me once, then started up again and ran about 10km then started acting up again. Made it little further then it just died and wouldnt start again. I am not getting any voltage to the fuel pump, nor any spark at the plugs, it will turn over. I swapped the relays around and did no good, all the fuses look good. I took a break to search the internet for help and then went back out to the car and the relay for the O2 sensor was going crazy with the key out of the ignition. Would the CPS cause no voltage to the fuel pump and no spark? I would really appreciate any help with this.

So,now the engine is starting or is not cranking at all? When you speak about CPS,did you mean Crankshaft Possition/RPM Sensor ?Is possible ,if ECM does not receive a crankshaft possition signal when cranking the engine will not start at all. This is my first supozition.

Sorry for the confusion. It will crank but not start. There is no spark at the spark plugs and no voltage at the fuel pump. Yes i was referring the crankshaft position sensor (CPS), I was pretty sure that if it was bad it would create a no spark condition, but i was unsure if it would keep voltage from going to the fuel pump. Thanks for you advice.
If you had not mentioned the noise from the O2 sensor relay with the key out of the ignition, I would suspect the crank position sensor. They tend to fail intermittently, so the problem would likely recur if that were it.
If the electrical glitch with relay is related, then I don't know where to begin other than down the long step-by-step electrical diagnostic trees in the service manuals. Not fun to do, and not particularly helpful if it decides to work properly while you are checking it.
