head gaskets are one of the weakest links in our engines.
you see a lot of bmws fail to complete a race and most of the times, it turns out to be a headgasket failure
personally, i wouldn't do anything that could overheat it.
as long as you used water wetter & a lower thermostat, i would say definitely do it. i wouldn't even worry about the thermostat, mostly the correct amount of water wetter really.

60$'s for the kit and its the best mod I have bought for my car for the moneyHANDS DOWN. I dont know what Harry is talking about not worth it???? It's the easiest mod and you will notice a great improvement. The fact that Harry drives a Slush box shows how he shouldnt input of performance mods like this(sorry dude but you shouldnt, the detachment between driver and car on an auto is rediculous) I did drive all moded auto V8 S4s, Porsche's and our old 328i before I bought my car.
Anyway, I noticed an amazing improvement with downshifts/upshifts and it actually improved my times while autocrossing. If you drive a slush then dont bother, but if you actually drive a manual its well worth the money.
Also the only time my car ever overheated was when I was at a drift day and I was holding my car completely sideways for long periods of time. This is because I was running my rpm's between 4500-7000 rpm consistantly and no air was traveling through the front of my car.
oh and get the kit, dont just pull the fan

I figured that it would actually be quite noticable, its a pretty big ass fan, and it must really increase the amount of power needed to rotate the water pump.
Its been dyno proven that its a 3-4 wheel HP increase, so it really does make a difference.
What coolant mixture do you recommend storamin? 50% coolant, 2 bottles of water wetter and the rest distilled water is what i was planning.
I threw in 1 bottle while refilling the coolant, but some of that spilled out while I was bleeding the system, so I topped off with another bottle. It's been 1 month and 700 miles since I did it, and the temp guage has been solid at just a smidge under the middle position.
As far as HP goes, it's completely negligible IME, what I did notice is that the engine is more stable at idle. On the bad side, the A/C fan turns on to the high position more often and is pretty noisy and can get annoying sometimes. Oh well . . at least I know the new switch works

It should be. But especially on an manual. What Harry is saying is its not, which isnt true. I was saying how he shouldnt input bec. his car is auto, which throw's off all the free revving feel you get from the kit.
