I honestly think that the M3 engine swap would give you more possibilities with less complications at the same or less price.

Having a turbo would be so much fun to drive, plus you get the cool sound.

All I have so far is a BOV, which I could easily resell, haha.

So it's not too late to back out of the turbo, but it would be sexy....

What do you think is the BEST value for price?

That's from bimmerworld.... way too expensive. =/

Let's say what's the best upgrades you could do for $4-5k installed?

A euro M3 engine is a bad idea, there are no parts available here, and they really are not meant to be run on our pump gas.

If it broke, you would be paying big bucks for parts and shipping from europe.. plus you would have to wait every time you ordered something.

I think this thread is just a reminder.. that if you want M3 power.. the cheapest thing to do is just buy an M3. A turbo is going to cost you more than 4-5k in the long run, lets say 3.5k for the setup if you lucky, 2k installed, 1k in tuning?

Thats alot of money..

Read my thread in e36 entitled "Future modding", it's a spin off of this thread.

I'd do just what catalyst said, and if that dosn't give you what you want, turbo *THAT* later down the road

If your going to turbo, you might as well replace the rods, pistons, and basically everything else you need to do with stronger parts while it's all apart so you can run even more boost.

Save up a little more and make a BEAST

if you are going to be running a big turbo setup you probably will want to build the engine to handle the extra power. i think it would make most sense to stick with the m52 (you already have one) and build that the way you want. it would be much cheaper than buying a s52 and rebuilding it. a built m52 could achieve the same results as a s52.
