Thumbs up Undercoating trunk

Finally decided to go ahead and undercoat my trunk. I've been wanting to do it ever since I dynamated it, mainly because you can't possibly dynmat 100%n of the trunk. So now my trunk is dynamated and undercoated.

Am in the process of doing it right now, taking a little break and letting things dry. So far I have done 2 coats of the lower part (where spare goes) and both sides. Waiting on those to dry to get the rear deck.

By the way, I blew up yet another set of rear speakers 3 set I have blown up so far. Oh well, that's what the 4 year extended warranty is for I always get newer and better speakers for free

I'll let you guys know the sound diff when am all done. Plus it looks VERY clean..... And I don't have to worry about rust or any of that junk..

First one were sony 3ways
Second set was Pioneer 4 ways
Third set was Alpine type S

And newest set is Pioneer 4 way 440w

In all honesty, the pioneers sounded the best so far. And am probably going to get the Pioner PREMIER hu

the speakers can't handle the bass from the subs, that's all....

But, WOW HUGE diff!!!!! The bass hits a LOT cleaner now. You feel like all the noise is right in your face.

However it didn't do a damn thing about the tinny rattle I still have. The Dynamat cleaned up like 90% of the rattle, the little thin strip where the key goes in the trunk rattles a little.

But yeah, I am very pleased with the results! It took me A little over 4 big cans of undercoat (make sure you buy the ones with sound dampener). And reason why it took me so many is that I didn't half ass it, I sprayed the metal, then the plastic covering (No worries, none of it is actually visible.

And yes the new pioneer's sound MUCH better than the Alpines

Next Sound mod = Pioneer PREMIER Hu with XM Radio

That's why you get subs, and crossovers, so your pioneer speakers do not have to deal with the low sounds.

that;s really cool. are you sure that the rattle is not actually from your license plate???

dynamat does sell a license plate mat for behind it, or you can wedge a terry cloth back there or something. check it out.

ya, shouldn't be blowing that many speakers.

During Sound Pressure Level (SPL) competitions, contestants physically hold the vehicle body panels to increase SPL and produce better sound. As the car body is pressurized, the body panels rattle and balloon, but the SPL may not increase.
More info HERE

Quote:
Adding Dynamat to the vehicle--especially the trunk--results in higher SPL. Dynamat is the easiest-to-apply, thinnest and lightest material for adding sound pressure reinforcement to your car's body. When the panels don't rattle and balloon, you get higher SPL and tighter, louder bass! For more information, click the Sound dBates link below.
