wont start
i recently traded for a 1995 325i 4 door sedan. the previous owner had installed a push button start due to a relay or something failing and causing the starter to not engage with the turn of the key. he had not tried to start the car afterwards because of a rotten air intake boot. i got the car and replaced the air boot and now the car turns over but wont start. i first tried some starting fluid and it seemed to want to fire up. i then removed the back seat and realized that the in tank pump was not kicking on with the key or when i cranked the engine. next i power probed the fuel pump to prove that it did in fact work. i tried to start the car with the pump hot wired and it did not fire at all. i also moved the relays around in the fuse box to try and eliminate that

Your best bet is to undo whatever the previous owner did and get it back to stock (including fixing the original problem). Then start your diag work. Red-necking these cars isn't a good idea, it'll work on my Ford, but not on the beemer.
Does the check engine light stay on while cranking?
