need air pump to pass emissions?
hey dudes. I am getting sick of my Check engine light because my secondary air pump failed. as you know the sec. air pump pumps air into the exhaust manifold on cold start up to help the catalytic convertor.
Now, in my situation, AA sells a air pump simulator for $150. Which is around how much I would spend for a used air pump. MY question is do I need the air pump to pass my emissions testing? if not, I am done with that thing.

well, you might as well get it because the inspection wont pass if you have your check engine light on, but as far as the exhaust backpressure goes, yes, i believe if it is too low you will not pass insepction, why? because the 02 sensor will detect that and start acting funny, so i think either way youd fail
