does $225 sound right for an a/c comp. from an m3 and misc sunroof rails motor etc?

yes, you can get parts if they are from a newer model, actually, thats what people do sometimes because of the whole R12/R134A thing

I would check that out further for compatibility. You have a '92, which is the R-12 era. The '97 M3 compressor is 134A. Even if your system was already converted, the parts may be different, I don't know any more other than to say double check just in case.

checked it out same part # and all. people dont get a new compressor when they retrofit it

yeah this stuff is coming off an admin in another forum <norcalbmw.com> he wants to autox his car so far i think he is getting rid of the interior and welding the sunroof shut. he has a lot of stuff done already though
