Rear Suspension finally buckled tonight whiles racing Deloriant home!
So I'm driving home tonight on the Van Wyk Expressway south and a red debadged E36 coupe....with California tags (4XU...) pulls up besides me whiles going 50 mph...so I swore it was Deloriant or Speed Infusion...it was the same rims they got, same bright ass red, M3 bumper & Mirrors and debadged...He (white kid with dark hair) winds his black-tinted windows down and looks over at me as if he knew me then sped off...
Of course I went after him...going around dump trucks and semi tractor trailers at like 80-90 mph... he was fast...real fast...when we get to the Jackie Robinson Hway ramps he exits in front of me and I follow at like 70 mph. The exit has some rough bumps before you get onto the Jackie and then it's all twisties all the way down for like 7 miles. Anyway as we go over crazy bumps and holes way too fast and I brake hard to keep control Next thing I know my rear wheels start slipping side to side and my entire rear wheel wells sounds like the bumper is dragging and clanging against the ground(like metal chains)...it was freaking loud and metallic like metal clanging on metal...so I slow down and drive at 30-40 mph all the way home. Anyway I lost the red E36 in the twistes and my car had no stability or bounce. I need new shocks ASAP or something, new rear suspension perhaps in the morning... :cry that is it. But do you think I could have damaged anything else? Deloriant...why? why me? :dunno |
Oh yes you could have possibly damaged other things. I would jack the rear of the car up and visually inspect for any possible damage. After that, replace the shocks & springs. After that give a car a test drive and you'll know if anything else is severly messed. You're lucky you didn't lose control of the car...

TWAS NOT I! Although, you would be smart to not make an attempt to beat me
=) |
lol...
deloriant....that dude had the same exaxt car as in your sig...except the rear trunk lid wing. And his rear diffuser wasn't paint matched... |
why would deloriant wanna be in NY anyway, NY SUCKS.. seriously it does
|
So what actually happened.. did you break a shock free from the car?
|
damn delmarco you got the worst luck.. probably is shock related. Peel the trunk lining back and take those suckers out. Maybe you just busted the mounts.. I used to bust them out all the time in my 318. It sounds like a metal clanking and clunking whenever you hit the slightest bump. So basically the shocks arent supporting the rear and it is all springs so it would be real bouncy too..

I'm going to start looking for a thread in other forums that says something like,
"So, some black dude in a Calypso Red 318 -- yes, I said 318... lol -- tried to race me on the Van Wyck last night. He followed me for a decent amount of time. I kept it around 80-90mph to see how stubborn this dude really was. As I am exiting into the Jackie Robinson, I check my rearview and he seems to be slowing down. If am not wrong, one of his rear wheels appeard to be wobbling all over the place. I kind of feel bad for the guy; it seems like he messed up his rear suspension. Well, that's what you get for chasing me with a 4-banger. New Yorkers crack me up." |
^^haha. Del are you going to get that 328 suspension or aftermarket?
|
lol...
well I'm going to take it into the shop today...in a minute...have the guy jack it up (again for the 3rd time this month) and we'll look at it... I think I busted the mounts like E36Bimmer said..because everytime before we jacked up the car...and found nothing wrong with the shocks/springs...we never looked at the mounts... |
The mounts should have been one of the first things you looked at... who is this guy and why didn't he check them.
|
well we did and this is what i found... :dunno
