Question Brake upgrades....need advice

Since i kinda need to replace my pads, i was kinda thinking of upgrading the whole setup minus the calipers. I discovered i had a bit more money than originally thought, so it may be possible for me to do in the near future.

What i plan to upgrade is obviously my pads, get slotted rotors, and definitly SS lines. Can anyone recomend a good rotor that will work with the stock calipers? If i get new rotors i would like to upgrade the calipers at some point in time, just not right away. Also if im gonna replace my rotors will a bigger than stock rotor work with my stock calipers?

i got the ATE power disc rotors up front, Had them on for a day with my new pads and SS lines and I notice a MAJOR difference. The set up you are talking about is definately a good one. And no, I wouldn't try getting bigger rotors for your stock calipers.

I would defnitly not try bigger rotors, the ATE power discs should be very good, and help let gas escape under braking and get better cooling so you will not get brake fade, not that its an issue for just driving around, but I track my car ocasionally so its important to me.

Just go with oem rotors, ss lines, and good pads.

With the stock calipers the difference between stock rotors and aftermarket xdrilled or w/e will be very minimal and just a waste of money. Unless your going for the bling factor..

regular ass OEM!!!
thats what I'm getting...
I spent even dough on labor and cosmetic upgrades and mods...
I only need brakes to work at the OEM level...and not look like I paid $2000 for some Brembo kit...

and can anyone justify $100+ for stainless steel brake lines!!!??/
WTF is up with that?

Still...thats insane...
unless you are dragging you I6 at 260mph down the track daily...there is no justification for that...

I mean they would out last your rotors and pads if you were arguing longevity and quality!

i don't know...someone talk to me...

Buyers beware. I got my UUC SS lines installed and the rear hose is about half and inch too short my mechanic said. Rooz, tell me if you can get them to fit, because he couldn't, and he siad he has seen it happen many times with teh same product.

Delmarco, the ss lines help alot, the rubber lines that are stock on the car bulge and get bigger as you push down the pedal, hindering stopping power. With SS lines, the lines cant bulge so the flow of brake fluid is much more uniform and strong, better braking, less brake fade, and better pedal feel all come from SS lines.

IMHO these cars should have them stock.. my moms fucking s70 volvo has metal brake lines all the way to the caliper!!

Also, can you really ever have to much braking power? When you need to stop, you need to fucking stop.
