Update on cams, advice on ECU PLS
Ok, my new M3 cams, M50 manifold, SS Brake lines, and AA Software were ordered today.
Yes AA, not Jim Conforti. Joseph from KO talked me into going with AA instead of Jim Conforti bcs AA does a better tuning, (yes at same price for me).
Now my concern is: HOW DO I TAKE MY ECU OUT????
When the cams get here, I have to overnight my ECU to KO, then they will take it to AA (20 mins from them) and get it tuned for me, then overnight it back.
So ANY HELP on how to take my ECU out will be more than welcome. ALL those mods should be here by Friday, my plan is to get my car to my dad's shop on friday morning, snatch the ECU out, haul ass to the post office ship it, and start on the cams, manifold, and SS lines swap. This will be a weekend project and my dad's mechanic will help me with timing the cams.

i guess your 328 is different from my 325, b/c in the 325 there were clips or screws(cant remember) that were very visible and obvious.. i remember it was really easy take it out, just dont remember how
you do know that the ECU is , if you are facing the car standing infront of it, on the left side all the way back there is a black cover and the ECU is behind there, right?
btw, tell me how hard the timing is, please, and do you or do you not have the tool for the camshaft removal?

When I talked to my dad's mech he said he had everything required for it... it would help to have a special timing tool but he said that he can work around that. And also, we have DOHC, I have never swapped DOHC cams, but technicaly they should be easier to do that single cams...

Bu yeah, now I see where the ecu is, doesn't seem hard to take it out. And as far as the timing on the cams go, that's probably when I'll step aside an let my dad's mech do it.

I can understand why you say that, and in a way I agree. But I really love working on my car, and when the result turns out good, it gives me a deepr feeling of ownership... (trying to not sound gay here.....)
+ I'll have a pro right next to me that will come and advice as needed, and also Jospeh from KO provided me with his cell is anything goes wrong AND the guy that I get my BMW parts from is jsut a phone call away and he knows 2 experts on E36's than can answer any questions he can't.... so yeah, am well prepaired

Ko Performance, when you are ready to do it, let me know and I'll tell them about you, I deal with Jospeh and he seems like a great guy, the all jazz including shipping and everyhting came to $1299 that's for new s52 manifolds, refurbished and factory re-stained M50 Manifold, and AA Software
With the AA software, you get 2 revisions if you ever add any more modifications , it's a better tune they make more HP. The software will be customely tuned for the M50 manifold and S52 cams and on top of all the regular stuff that any AA software has
And this is all that comes with the M50 Manifold:
1. Idle control valve repositioning kit
2. Fuel rail to fit your injectors and obd1 manifold.
3. 6x Manifold to head gaskets
4. Custom manifold to throttle body gasket to keep your throttle body.
5. Fuel hose and connectors for new fuel rail.
6. Fuel injector O rings
7. Fuel injector retaining clips
8. oil air separator breather attachment.

I'm jealous. haha, I want m3 cams, but as I'm planning a turbo in the future, that'd be a waste of money.
Let us know how it feels.
And actually, I don't think there's a single DIY online for swapping cams... if you could get a bunch of good pictures and description for a cam swap, we could post that and that could bring UB a ton of traffic....
