E36General discussion and technical help for (E36) 1992-1999 3 series cars. 318, 323, 325, 328.
Oh man this was ugly. I had just shut off the engine when I got home from work. I get out of the car, and I hear a slight crack, then PSHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH. Next thing you know smoke is coming out of the hood, and coolant is flowing across the ground in a huge swath. Ever see in the movies when some one hits the ground and blood comes gushing onto the pavement? That's what it looked like.
After some investigation, I found a huge crack down the side of the expansion tank. Jeeez, I just got done ordering all the parts for my fan delete mod, and some new hoses. I guess I have one more part to order
At least she was kind enough to wait till I got home to spill her guts all over the pavement . . . oh well, it's back to driving the Honda Insight for a few days till everything arrives.
^^Not too bad . . I got the new tank from BavAuto for $65. What sucks is you have to buy the radiator cap seperately for another 10 bucks. And the car will be sitting around for about a week before I get everything in, and find the time to do all the work.
