Cars are styled these days the way that movies are conceived these days. No one wants to try anything new. They just look at what everyone else is doing and copy each other, or maybe they figure out which direction everyone else is going and try to take it one step further. BMW used to have a distinctive look, but since about 1999, they get all their styling ideas from other makes.
The exception to this current trend is Chrysler. I have never owned and probably will never own a Chrysler product, but I would hate to see them go broke, because they are the only major auto manufacturing company with the courage and creativity to try new things and go in new directions. If it is cool, Chrysler will try it, and they don't give a crap whether anyone else has already been successful with it. I admire that.
