^^I'm across the river from you, if that counts

If you do the mod, just keep the old fan and clutch . . if you start to have problems, you can always slap it back on in like 15min.

Just curious about the water wetter, does that have to be changed after a while or is that a one time deal? Thanx

I mean, am waiting on my next paycheck to get the cams, so kinda on a limited budget. However if Chris from understeer gives me a good price for buying cams + software + FDK from him I'll get the FDK at same time.

Okay, I just did the fan delete mod today, along with a new water pump, coolant expansion tank, upper & lower radiator hoses, and an aluminum thermostat housing. And oh yea, I changed my oil, too. What a busy day, I'm soooo beat.

Believe it or not, the hardest part was the water pump . . the new o ring was so tight, it took me a good 20min to get the pump in. Not to mention that I didn't really need to replace it, since the old one turned out to have a metal impeller. But I figured I better do it anyway. Then I broke off the engine lift bolt attached to the thermostat housing. It was so corroded it wouldn't come out, and it finally snapped. Luckily the other 3 bolts were good enough to hold the housing in without leakage. Aside from that, everything else went pretty smoothly. By the way, all the writeups I've read were correct- when that engine drain plug comes off, the coolant goes EVERYWHERE!!

On the subject of increased HP and/or torque, I don't notice it. What I do notice is the engine runs a lot smoother and more solid than with the fan on, particularly with the A/C on. So there you have it, from me at least. Anyone need a couple of buckets of old oil and coolant?

But of course . . all the money I spent, I'd be an idiot if I didn't. Guess I forgot to mention that. And I didn't just drain and fill, I stuck a hose in and ran water through the entire system to get the crap completely out, then drained the system again . . the previous owner had the green stuff in there

What wasn't clear to me was how much Water Wetter to use. Chris at Understeer sends 2 bottles, but the directions on the bottle says to use 1 for most cars. I ended up using both, one while bleeding the system, which I'm sure some came out during the process, and I used the other bottle to top off when I was done.

Really? What have you heard? jrHaile has UUC pulleys with the fan delete, I wonder what his opinion on this would be.

Yes, Chloe was safely napping inside the house when that picture was taken. My wife PSed her in to the picture as a joke, but managed to delete the original sans Maine Coon picture in the process, so she remains underhood as a bit of an easter egg for the site
