Question Should i sell my E36?

I own a 1998 E36 328i in Canyonrot Mettalic. I bought it at the end of may and its been the best car ive ever head. Yesterday i was over at the dealership (not a BMW one) checking out a 540i for a buddy of mine who might be interested in it. The guy was telling me that apparentley he's still getting calls from people who wanna buy it. I got a really good deal on it at $15,000 CDN. The guy was telling me that i could easly put it up for $18,000 and get 18 for it. I told my mom that and she was like SELL IT. Now dont get me wrong i dont wanna sell it, i love the car, alot. But the guy also had an S600 for sale for $20,000 so if i sold the BMW id probably end up getting that or the 1995 540i 6-speed. I was talking to another friend of mine about it and he loves my car,hes so jealous of it (he has a 91 cavilier). But all he could say was "sell it and get the S600". I know some of the history behind the S600 (Mercedes equivelnt of the 760Li). The S600 or the 540i would both me sweet in their own rights, but i still love my car and wanna keep it. But i dunno if i should. So what do u guys think?

EDIT: Here are a couple pics of the 540i. Its in pretty good shape for a 95, only thing is the guy told me that the front ball joints would have to be replaced. Other than that it seems pretty kool. If you wanna do a carfax the vin # is: WBAHE53275GA4027

Pics of the S600? If it's equivalent to the 760Li, how is it so inexpensive?

Ill see if i can get a pic. But yea, the S600 is the Mercedes equivlent to the BMW 760Li. It is trully spectacular, i belive the year is like 92-94 but im not sure. The engine in it is sick outa your mind.If u see the pics of the 760Li i posted the engine is like that. Speedo only goes to 260kmh (Canadian regulations) but im pretty damm sure it can go ALOT faster than that.

How old are you?

I doubt you want to pay the maintenace of a V12 MB. I don't understand why you're considering going from a 3 series that gets 25 mpg to a MB S600 that gets 12 mpg. I'd get the 540i 6-speed because they are pretty rare, but make sure it has no problems with the cylinder liners like the US cars had. Hopefully the gas in Canada is better and you guys never had a problem like we did.

thats a very touch choice. I would only consider the 540, not the MB. I think the S600 will just turn out to be too much hassle and money for you.

The 540 would be sweet witht he 6 speed, and it would be awesome to have the power of that V8. But beware since it is 3 years older than your car, so you might end up having a few more problems with it.

stick with the e36. sure the power of the v8 with a six speed would be nice, but its not going to have the great handling that makes the e36 so much fun to drive.

i'd go with the 540 SEX speed. I agree the the maint. on a v12 is probably too much for you, although that car is hella sweet. If everything checks out (except for little things that you'd end up replacing no matter what) i'd DEFINITELY go for the 540
