maybe some that aren't made of plastic...

If they keep popping off, then check the track that runs vertically inside of the door by the door lock. It's probably out of alignment.

AM sayoing that bcs I had a friend who had a 96 jetta. His car's windows had some issues and he had a recall on them bcs of the same issue you'r having, they replaced the plastic ones with some made of a better material...

Well, lol, I haven't spoken to the guy since he left our school in like the middle of the year, but am sure you can go with some aftermarket metal ones, just look around... sorry I can't be of much help on this...

when i first got my car i had the same problem, windows wouldnt work and the clips are broken, actually i think they are still broken, but not sure, but anyway, there is the ARM, not the track, that attactches to the "border" of the door, the screw that attatches it, just move it in a certian direction(you will see, its a big hole, i cant describe)

i have the same problem with my 92 325, i thought about making some my self, (m a machinist by the way) but im worried that if the sliders are too strong the window will break instead.

holy crap ! now that some scary sh!t but ya know what , yesterday i tore off my dor panels and took a look at it, and noticed that one side of socket to hold the joint look to be scraped off, like it was rubbing on the track or somthing ill get a pick up here today i still am waking up. :bouncey

The sliders are made of plastic for a reason. If you use metal, you'll grind away the track. When you install new ones, spray some lithium grease all along the track so it doesn't bind. And make sure the metal retainer clips are snapped all the way in.

Check the vertical track like I mentioned. If the sliders are popping off, then the top of it is probably not aligned correctly. A telltale sign of misalignment is a faint cracking sound while the windows are rolling up.
