I can't comprehend why a car enthusiast would pick an automatic over a standard trasmission unless it was for handicapped reasons. The icing on the cake for me is when people decide to mod it with parts to improve acceleration when you have to make up for a 1-1.5 second longer time to get to 60 mph or basically any speed. Installing the same parts on a 5-speed would make your car almost as fast as an M3.

Please post your reasons for buying an automatic if you don't mind.

For the 10th F--- time I post MY OWN REASONS HERE (not that it's anyone's business ):

When I was buying a new car I was in a hurry. Some stupid lady had totaled my previous car, and her inssurance was cutting down the rental they gave me. Went to the auctions with my dad, and finally found a coupe 328is in Alpine White (exactly what I was looking for) however it was auto. My dad told me that a car exactly like I want would be hard to find SOON in a manual. So I bought it and am very happy with it.

Now would you please get that monkey of my back?

Im modding my auto, theres nothing wrong with it.Im having just as much fun with it as if it were a manual. Sure a manual would be funner but to each his own. One of the reaons i didnt get a manual is cause the one i was originally gonna buy kinda sold first, also thanks to stampede week my left knee hurts like a bitch after walking for a while.

Nothing really wrong with modding an auto. My other car is an auto and has m3 cams, chip, exhaust and soon an intake. I do agree, your car or mine will never meet the standards of a 5spd, but there is nothing w/doing this modding. And to question his "enthusiasm" just because he bought an automatic is kind of ignorant imo. You're entitled to your opinion, but I see LOTS of people who are huge car enthusiast's own automatics.
