OH NO!!!! DID SOMEBODY STEAL MY NEW AND BRIGHT WHITE CLEAR CORNERS!!!?!?!?! :dunno

brien4787 07-15-2005 03:36 PM

here are the corners just after being sprayed... i dont think they lighten up after spray or darken, or anything, or or or...blah

so far they ar elooking nice... since this is a picture from a point and shoot camera, in an overcast day(or it was 10 minutes ago)... and i dont care too much for photoshoping a while trying to get the colors right, here are some pictures... pretty close... of course it looks like i missed some spots, but that is just the lighting...

ill probably put them back in in a few minutes and hopfully it will look better than ORANGE or BRIGHT FREAKING WHitE :spin

going to buy some clear coat because they told me too..

Rooz 07-15-2005 04:20 PM

:doh Man, you used the wrong spray.....

VHT Nighshades is for corners.....

And yes, Clear coat is needed bcs it protects the layer of "tint spray"

brien4787 07-15-2005 04:32 PM

i dont think it will matter... though i screwed up with the clearcoat... need to go buy some paint thinner : /

it was looking great, until... clear coat :doh

when i was spraying, some black specks came out too.. just a few, but its ruined... PAINT thinner to the rescue! :bowdown

Rooz 07-15-2005 04:47 PM

Yeah, that "tint" takes for ever to dry, but the nightshades pretty much dries instantly...

brien4787 07-15-2005 05:20 PM

any tips for applying the spray clear coat? if you mess up, you have to use paint thinner, dry off, repaint, wait for it to dry, then do it again, rarrg haha

Rooz 07-15-2005 05:30 PM

humm, spray it from a good distance and little by little.

brien4787 07-15-2005 06:40 PM

it turned out okay, but the corners i bought were cheap as hell.... ended up putting a little crack at the bottom of one....but hopfully the layers of clear will seal that up water tight.

the clear i put on left thema little duller than i wanted, but oh well, still looks good... if you look close enough, you can tell that one is duller than the other, but no worries, this is my exterior stock 318 minus the corners, that i will probably be selling soon.... it looks a lot better than stock corners or the bright whites.

im thinking about smoking the side turn signals, but not sure if i should just leave them orange color...

also thought about smoking the rear tail lights, but i am afraid they will look like crap

one last thing, what do you guys think: keep the bulb i have now, or get some white light ones. the ones i have now create a kind of cool orange effect(amber, whatever) when they are on or when blinking.... not sure if i should keep it like that, or just go with some that will not show amber color

brien4787 07-15-2005 07:15 PM

well finally done. i think it probably looks better in person. i recommend doing this if any of you buy clear corners because, CC are too bright most of the time imo. this makes it blend in with the car a lot more than bright white or orange.

if i did it again, i would probably use a clear coat with some shine, but any work just fine.

:drive2

Rooz 07-15-2005 08:02 PM

Looks much better, GJ :D

brien4787 07-15-2005 08:07 PM

So what spray can would I need? I finally have some money for small mods, might as well get clears with the new fogs I need, one is cracked from recently which sucks because they were perfect originals by the looks of them.
