I think you can pry it open, just don't push too hard. Was in a DIY on pelican parts, I think...

ive smoked my lights with just krylon paint.
ill post pics when im out of class.

but i did get a ticket for my lights, but i think it was because one of my tail lights were just out. im not sure if its illegal to have black tail lights. i mean you can see the lights fine at night.
