E36General discussion and technical help for (E36) 1992-1999 3 series cars. 318, 323, 325, 328.
I have been looking at mods for the 325 I will be getting, and the Conforti/TMS chip on TMS's website says that a 325 will gain 22hp and 20 torque. My question is simple: since the 328 only has 1 more hp and 22 more torque than the 325, will the chip alone make a 325 as fast as a 328?
I say yes from experience. A chipped 325 will even beat a sharked 328. The M50 intake manifold is far superior and makes up the difference in displacement. Now put the M50 manifold on the M52 engine and you got something special there..
it's not about the .3 liters that make the difference.. it's what's in the head :P cam sizes from a 2.8 are about 1/4" taller in the lopes thus meaning more torque becase the valves are opening and closing faster.. if you wanted, I have a set of 2.8l cams. I would imagine with a custom chip, these cams would work great. I'd be looking to get like 75 bones for them or so... Anyways, don't expect a chip to make your car much faster. But a custom chip with other hardware is awesome :P

Umnitza now provides a mechanic to install all parts ordered right in the box! It's their new "Total customer service program" that will eliminate all the haters and keep incompetents from breaking **** and blaming the vendor! When you are all set simply call INS and they will pick him up free of charge.

i have a 95 325i with the conforti chip in my car and honestly i can feel a huge difference... once you hit 3600+ rpms the car explodes all the way to 7grand.... if it doesnt seem that good, get a tune up. This chip is great for a 325... my family has an e46 328ci and if we were starting from a roll i know the 328 would be dead even/pulling on me... but from around 60+ and both dropped its a drivers race and/or me pulling a little... the extra power 3600+ up plus the 7grand rev limit really makes it great!
Same here... My chip made a night and day difference. From 3500+ the difference was huge. The 328 will pull off the line better, but once the chiped 325 hits 4K it will take over.. There is only one way to be sure tho, any 328 around NYC area care to put it to the test?
