Need advice on purchase

I can get a 1998 328i with 101,500 miles black on black, 5 spd, just tuned up, new bilstein shocks, overal mint. for $8,300

OR

A 1998 328i convertible with 54,000 miles FULL M3 package (bumpers, moldings, suspension, M contour rims) in estoril blue w/ dove leather, 5 spd, again in mint cond. for $12,000

I would hands down go for the non convertible, but this convertible is something special. Any tips?

You know you want the convertible :D Drive them both, then go with your gut. They're the same to me as far as cost, since the 328i with 101k will be needing a few replacement parts very soon.

I like the low miles personally :drive2

i hear the vert is slower..anyone know how much slower?

witeshark 06-21-2005 06:01 PM

They are a bit heavier from structural reinforcements

My brother had a convertible and he had a horrible time with leaks and stuff.... IMpossible to fix! It would have costed him 5k-6k to fix it...

thats a scary prospect. This is such steal tho. The book value is over 16K, I offered him 12K 3 weeks ago and now he said he will do it after no luck selling it. Im gonna check it out tomorrow and possibly purchase this bad boy..

Your car is tight tho!

Rooz 06-21-2005 09:55 PM

run a carfax on it and contact local BMW dealerships and see if they have any records of that car being in their shops.

A week or so after my brother bought his, he took it to the local BMW shop and the first thing my brother's representative said was:

"Guys look the blue convertible is back" :lol

I would go for the convertible. There is nothing like a convertible.

That's awesome. I almost bought a convertible. Sometimes I wish I had, sometimes I don't.

Depends on the weather where you live really. If you have a lot of hot, sunny days, go for it.

Thanks bro, I would prolly keep her and have the vert :woot . My location isn't exactly "vert friendly" tho. We get tons of snow up here and could only drive it 6 months out of the year and thats pushing it. I'll be sure to scrutinize the top situation. Hey rooz what was the milage on your bros vert?

Rooz 06-22-2005 10:07 AM

^^ I'd have to ask him, I'll let you know by tonight...
