1994 318ic intermittent electric power; WHY?

Every now and then, I will go to start the car and turning the key produces absolutely nothing. No power in just the on position, and certainly no start. Just as if someone had pulled the battery out of the car.

When I open or close a door, all of a sudden, the electrical is there, just as if someone just connected the battery. Of course, when that happens, I have to re-enter the radio Code!

Battery terminals are clean and tight.

I suspect perhaps a Relay under the hood?

Would anyone have any idea which one it might be?

Ground Wire Connections

I'm experiencing similar problems with a car of the same production year. There seems to be electrical issues very regularly these days. Most notably, the CCU will operate one day and not the next. I've been told the problems are most likely attributed to ground wire connections. I'm investigating that now.

I look forward to...

I look forward to hearing about what you find. It has not happened again to me for several months, but am certain it could at any time.
