1990 325i Convertable
 

I own a 1990 325i Convertable that has sat in a home garage for some 8 years or so, without running. I recently, within a week, had the car in service and now, after a new battery, fuel pump and fuel tank as well as a few additional service points, have the car runnng again. Now that the car is running, and it runs fairly strong after sitting for so long, the service facility suggest I drive the car for a few months to let everthing settle "into place" before giving the car a full checkup. Anyone have a similar situation and have any suggestions for me? Also, where can I find quality replacement parts and accessories for the car? Anyone know of a decent stereo and CD player for this older car? By the way, the car has only 113,300 miles! Can I expect to drive this car much longer?

Everything rubber or plastic is going to be prone to failure. Drive train and suspension bushings, air passage, vacuum hoses, water hoses, etc. If you have the tools to press out bushings and replace them you can stay ahead of it and keep it riding like new for a reasonable cost of operation.

The only parts likely to leave you stranded if they fail are cooling system, so keep a close eye on that.

Mechanical/suspension parts should be readily available from all the major on-line suppliers - Autohaus, Pelican, Bimmerparts, etc. Parts for the convertible top may be a challenge,
