All I ever wanted
I dont know where to start, about my happienes of owning my first bmw or that, that happieness only lasted 20 min.
I bought a 1998 318i today and on my way home, it started loosing power and as I looked at the temp, it was all the way in the red and a couple of seconds later it just stalled ( I got towed home )
Back at home the car was all cooled down, so I tried to start it again; and all the electronics switch on, the engine turns over, but it just doesnt want to start.
I dont know what to do
Please Help !!!!!
Unfortunately, there is nothing anyone can say here that will make you feel any better. A no-start condition after an overheat is a really bad sign.
Does the engine sound normal when you crank it or does it sound 'lumpy' like the rotational speed is changing or completely free-wheeling like it is spinning fast with no resistance at all?
I presume that after it cooled, you opened the bleed screw and attempted to add water to the coolant reservoir. How much water were you able to add?
Do you hear the fuel pump click on and spin up momentarily when you turn the key to the On position?

i also have the same experience about that..
all i have to do just contact specialist professional on BMW..
i agree that is bad sign if your engine won't start after cooled..
but don't worry..everything is gonna be alright..

Yeah I cheked it and it doesnt look milkey at all.
I had it up to diagnostics check.
The codes that showed was:
Po 300 (cyl misfire)
Po 303 (cyl 2 misfire)
Po 302 (cyl 3 misfire)
Po 340 (camshaft position sensor)
Po 116 (coolent temt circut)
Po 130 (02 sensor)
Any takes on what this might mean.
Help is very apprisiated
