AC Blower Motor/Fan and Installation

Help Please. I've got a 1995 318i and the blower motor is about dead. It only wants to work every now and then. I'm in the process of buying a used or new motor with squirrel cages, etc. and want to know how complicated it is to take out the old and install the new. So...I have two main questions:

First:

Should I buy a brand new unit or would a used unit be okay?

I have found a couple for around $50-60 on ebay that are salvage parts out of 95-99 model bmws (E36). I've also found a brand new unit for sale online made by FreshCabinAir. I'd like save some money, but don't want to buy any junk. I'd love to hear some recommendations on which route would be best.

Two:

Can I easily replace the part myself or do I need to take it to the shop and leave it to the pros? (And if it is an easy do it yourself project, could you point me in the direction of anything explaining the process or explain it to me here in the reply post...)

Thank you in advance for the responses to this post. Any other comments or advice is also much appreciated. Thanks.
