92 E36 fuel pump turns on but dont pump fuel out
ok my car started acting up a few weeks ago and i posted it on here well now it dont even start at all and i found out that the fuel pump turns on but doesnt pump any fuel out of the hose and i dont know why what could the problem be cause i dont get why it turns on and spins but no fuel comes out not even a little bit please help me
Um - is there fuel in the tank?
This sounds like a sarcastic question but it is really not. You have two fuel tanks with a jet pump between them to transfer fuel. Your gas guage may say you have a quarter tank, but there may be no fuel at all in the passenger side tank where the fuel pump is.
If the car starts when you add fuel to the tank, that is your problem.
The jet pump may fail to work because it is old and cracked, because it has literally fallen out of its hole when you hit a big bump, or because the fuel filter is plugged and there is not enough fuel coming back from the engine to make the jet pump work. Replace the fuel filter and see if that helps. http://frontiernet.net/~Papi/Filter.html

yes actually it has a full tank right now i didnt think it was working so i pulled the seat and took the litte cover off of where the pump is at and it turns on but nothing comes out at all i pulled the hoses off right at the pump and nothing comes out at all and i dont know why i was told by a couple people it could just be a weak pump but idk if thats the case

ok thats what i thought too bad or weak pump but whats weird is that its the stock pump that does it and also i went to junk yard and picked one up and still nothing i mean i know you get what you pay for from the junk yard but isnt it kind of weird that both pumps do the same exact thing you think maybe its the wiring
It sounds crazy, but could something have happened in the wiring harness that would reverse the wires and cause the fuel pump to spin backward? What other work has been done lately?
