E36General discussion and technical help for (E36) 1992-1999 3 series cars. 318, 323, 325, 328.
Hey everyone, I have a 1998 M3 with a 4 spoke steering wheel. I want to swap it with my dad's 3 spoke steering wheel from him 1999 M3 which he is planning to sell. I tried to look up a DIY online and on this forum, but I have had no luck. I am pretty sure I can figure most of it out, but I was wondering if I need anything else to do the switch other than direct swapping parts from both cars. I read that I may need a steering column switch bracket and perhaps a slip ring? Is this true or can I just swap it from my dads car? My current 4 spoke wheel is also squeaking so I think it's the slip ring. I plan to swap it if it works. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Not sure if this applies, buy you may have to reset the airbag SRS system when you unplug those components. for that, you'll need the special tool that plugs into the port under the hood.
