tick over problem

i have a tick over problem with my 1994 318i auto it starts fine runs fine but almost every time i stop it tries to cut out the revs drop even when stopped and holding it on the brakes it doesnt matter whether the car is cold or hot its just maddening car has new plugs and leads any help would be grateful

Did you check for vacuum leaks specifically around the rubber elbow into the intake area? There's more to check but start there.

thanks for the reply havnt checked that but would it not tickover roughly all the time if there was an airleak there?

tickover

have checked the vacumn pipes all tight no leaks did find the rocker cover breather pipe all squidgey and split so i have ordered a new one and the vacumn device that this pipe conects to, would this cause the engine to keep cutting out?

very possible. Vac leaks do just what you're describing

thanks for the replies have fitted the breather pipe and crankcase breather valve it doesnt cut out when i stop now but the revs almost drop to nothing then it picks up again so something is still not right
