1998 BMW 323iC driving issues. Some feedback needed please
Hello Im new to the site, I have recently purchased a 98' 323iC. the car has 124K miles and is a 5spd. the cars seems too run well with the exception of is slight hesitation,or bucking while driving. usually happens while in a high gear cruising. Happenes one or two times daily. The CEL code was tripped once, which pointed too a failing crank sensor. I purchased the part, and brought the car too a local european garage. Mechnic told me that the intake tube had a split and was most likely the source of the issue. he replaced and the car continued too has the same issue, thought the overall running was better than before. I dropped the car back of on monday too have the crank sensor replaced. Mechanic said that crank sensors are a rare replacement part on my model. does this seem to be tthe case? If so what other things could be the source of the issue? I have done synthetic oil changes every three-thousand miles, put a stock style K&N air filter in. This weekend I changed the plugs, and coil things with no change in performance (Plugs, and coils needed replacement anyway). Should note the car did one time start misfireing badly and stalled once while driving. I restared and car was fine, this happened while waiting for the Sensor too arrive. Just curious if this problem could infact be linked too the crank sensor, or if their is other known areas too look into. The Car idles smoothly and evenly, and gets good mileage ( i put in 91 useually but 93 does not make and drivability diffrence concerning the described problem.) and doesnt run hot, or sputter. Any help or input would be great Thanks-Chuck

Hi, how's it going?
I'm not to well up on your model, but crank sensors can cause problems, if you have the part i would get it changed, its easy enough to do yourself.
Have you changed the fuel filter?
