I'd gain a huge amount of additional respect for bmw computers if they did that.

I honestly wouldn't put it past them. I HIGHLY doubt it's some sort of polymorphic\learning computer, It's just shift points of 4 gears! But, it dosn't seem too hard to have a scale of like, 1-10, 1 being "Hey, a grandma's driving this car, shift easy" and 10 being "Oh, mr. shuemacher owns this car, Drive like a bitch" based on the total amount of time the car's been in WOT status...

You could always just get some lsd 25 and not worry about your car or practically anything else anymore.

I just had someone PM me on another site and offer me a 3.23 LSD for $400 shipped.

What do you guys think about this? Is it worth it? I'm tempted.

I think for $400 you may wanna research all the affects the new gearing would have.

i think going from a 3.91 to 3.23 would really slow you down a lot. with the auto do you ever need more traction? i think in your case an 5 speed conversion would be better.

if you can afford it maybe you should swap in a 6 speed. that would be awesome with a 3.91 and the diff could be turned into a lsd.

I honestly don't see myself doing a swap though. It's a lot of money and not something you can part out and go back to oem if you ever sell the car. Something like that is probably best done by selling the car and buying a oem manual.

agreed, unless you are gonna do it up and not sell for a long time.. and you'd need a larger than 3.91 to have any benefit..however i can use that 3.23
